Immigration New Zealand has implemented a temporary 12-month reduction in standard visitor visa fees for eligible applicants from 13 specified Pacific nations. Effective 1 June 2026, the standard offshore visitor visa fee is lowered from NZD $216 to NZD $161 [1].

What this means in practice

For eligible applicants applying from outside New Zealand, the reduced fee of NZD $161 applies automatically during the 12-month concessionary period. This total includes the $41 immigration levy. Pacific visitors also remain exempt from the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL). However, specialised visitor categories—such as the Parent Boost Visitor Visa and Group Visitor Visas—are excluded from this temporary reduction and retain their standard pricing structures.

Who should check this

This update applies directly to prospective visitors from 13 specified Pacific nations preparing to submit a standard visitor visa application from offshore. Family members, community sponsors, and immigration advisers assisting Pacific nationals should verify that applications qualify for the standard visitor visa stream before submission.

Practical checklist

  • Confirm that your application is submitted from outside New Zealand during the 12-month concessionary period.
  • Verify that your intended application falls under the standard visitor visa category rather than excluded specialised visitor streams.
  • Ensure online submission reflects the temporary NZD $161 fee rate.
  • Check that supporting travel and identity documentation meets standard entry requirements.

Important limits or current position

This fee reduction is temporary and applies strictly for 12 months starting 1 June 2026. It does not alter general visitor visa eligibility criteria, financial support requirements, health and character mandates, or the duration of authorized stay. Applicants must still meet all standard entry conditions for New Zealand visitor visas.
