Fast. Friendly. Affordable. Not sloppy, sleazy or nasty cheap.

Why VisaPlex exists

People rarely contact an immigration adviser when life is simple. Usually a deadline is close, a letter has arrived, or a plan has hit a wall.

Hiring an adviser won't take that weight away. My job is to make sure VisaPlex doesn't add to it.

VisaPlex exists to make immigration help clearer, more human and easier to reach.

Fast, not sloppy

Fast comes from our infrastructure: the systems and technology behind VisaPlex are built to keep your matter moving, with less rework, fewer repeated questions for you and fewer avoidable delays.

Speed never replaces checking. Before anything is lodged, I work back from what Immigration New Zealand (INZ) needs to see and audit your file against it, so I can find and deal with gaps before a case officer does.

Fast doesn't mean INZ will decide sooner. No one outside INZ controls how long it takes.

"Thank you for your quick response. Appreciate your time for giving us clear view what might happen."

Friendly, not sleazy

Friendly isn't a permanent smile or a sales pitch. When people contact me, they're usually under pressure.

Friendly means advice and materials you can understand, timely updates, and feeling comfortable asking the question you think is silly.

"…she kept us up to date and calm when things were very stressful."

Affordable, not nasty cheap

The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest outcome.

In Terry Pratchett's Men at Arms, Sam Vimes explains it with boots: someone who can only afford cheap boots keeps replacing them. Over ten years, they spend far more than the person who bought one good pair, and they still have wet feet. Immigration can be harsher. When an application goes wrong, the cost can include new INZ fees, months of waiting and, sometimes, your visa status.

So affordable means keeping your total cost down, not just the fee.

Your scope is defined before work starts, the work happens in stages, and your scope and fees don't change without your written agreement. Wherever possible, each stage has a fixed fee, agreed in writing before that stage begins. Where a fixed fee isn't possible, you'll get my hourly rate and a written estimate of the time the stage will take, agreed before that stage begins. If a stage looks like it will take longer than estimated, I'll tell you and get your written agreement before going further. INZ fees and other third-party costs are separate, and I'll set them out in writing too.

It also means doing the right work once. The Licensed Immigration Advisers Code of Conduct (opens in a new tab) requires advisers to work in a way that doesn't unnecessarily increase fees.

Always getting better

I pay attention to where my process could be clearer or quicker for the people using it, and I keep refining it behind the scenes. You shouldn't have to see that work, but it should make the process easier for you.

What you can expect

I work with individuals, families and employers. VisaPlex can advise you on your options, help you prepare your application and represent you with INZ. The scope for each matter is agreed in writing.

I've worked in New Zealand immigration for more than twenty years. These days I take on a lot of complex work, particularly student, partnership and deportation matters. That includes people who have had a visa declined in the past, or are dealing with a decline now. I still help with straightforward applications too.

INZ makes the decision on visa applications, so I can't guarantee an outcome, but I can help you anticipate the pitfalls and plan for them.

About Ava

Your first contact is free, and it isn't an assessment. I'll ask a few questions to work out whether I can help, and I aim to reply within two working days. If I can help, I'll explain the next steps and how I'd work with you.

If you have a letter from INZ with a deadline, treat it as urgent. Sending me an enquiry doesn't pause that deadline, so put the deadline date in your first message. If I haven't replied in time, or I can't take your matter on because of capacity, don't wait for me: contact INZ or another licensed adviser so your deadline is protected.
